Newry, Northern Ireland | Open Design Competition

Studio Partington, working with The Carvill Group, were shortlisted for the mixed-use redevelopment of the Albert Basin site in an open design competition. An unrealised gem in the centre of Newry City, the Albert Basin lies unseen, unused and under developed. The 15-acre site is situated at the head of Carlingford Lough, nestled between the Mourne and Cooley Mountains and between the two historic waterways of the Clanrye River and the Newry Canal. It has a unique location of being in the centre of Newry City and also being part of the Greater Eastern Greenway route of Ireland (Lough Neagh to Greenore).
