Holmewood House School
Kent | Holmewood House School | Completed
Holmewood House is an independent prep school in Kent, which occupies a listed 19th century Decimus Burton mansion. The school has been extended in an ad hoc nature over the years, resulting in a disorganised plan and compromised appearance of the listed mansion.
Studio Partington were selected to redesign a large part of the building, working within the restrictions of an existing approved masterplan. Initial designs focused on rationalising circulation throughout the site, creating a new main pupil entrance and upgrading loose external space with a well-defined cloistered courtyard.
A learning hub, café and dining hall, have been designed with sympathy to the listed building, and by sitting apart from the mansion, will compliment and enhance it’s historic character.
