SP at forefront of Embodied Carbon technology

Director Colin Davis spoke with Vectorworks this week to discuss how Studio Partington have been using Vectorworks’ Embodied Carbon Calculator (VECC) on various projects within the office. Studio Partington have been early adopters of the VECC software. A big part of being able to achieve ‘Carbon Zero’ by 2030 is understanding the Carbon implications of the building fabric in construction and throughout its life cycle. “Studio Partington is passionate about designing buildings that take a conscious effort to minimize their impacts on the environment… The VECC gives us the opportunity, from the earliest stages of a project, to quickly understand and analyse the amount of material and likely embodied carbon impacts of our proposals. This can feedback into the design process to lead to better and more responsible solutions”, Colin told Vectorworks. We are currently using the software on projects of different scales within the office and believe software and analysis like this will become necessary in reducing the Embodied Carbon of all future projects.
