Star Mill Lane has received Planning Approval
Located on a redundant ambulance station site in Chatham, Kent the development will provide 14 new two-storey family homes with private rear gardens and with an emphasis on biodiversity by adding a significant amount of new urban greening in the form of a network of native street and garden trees, garden and boundary hedges, together with blocks of nectar and pollen rich decorative planting. In addition, the provision of edible fruiting trees will benefit both the residents and wildlife.
The layout was informed by the desire to reestablish the street frontage whilst giving each home good outlooks and a generous garden, and maximising the potential of the site to deliver high quality housing that will meet the needs of future residents.
The resulting arrangement draws upon the existing terrace house form and types to ensure the homes sit comfortably in their location. The houses and parking are arranged as a mews court with semi-mature tree planting and shared surface landscape design, breaking up the mass of the development and visual impact of parked cars.
The project will commence on site in late 2024.
