Plans submitted for a recording studio

Plans submitted for a new recording studio for a town plot in Robin Hood’s Bay in North York Moors National Park, abutting a Grade II listed building.

The scheme is a multi-purpose studio that caters for electronic, classical, popular, film and acoustic music and offers a live space to accommodate a jazz or brass band, a modest classical ensemble or a choral group. The double height studio is the main element of the ground floor space with writing and relaxing spaces provided on the upper level, where artists can work and sleep to their own timetable.

A rich material palette of multi-red stock brick and York stone copings and linings give the building solidity and a sculptural form, with contrasting elegant bronze anodised louvres and a floating lightweight matte patinated zinc roof.
