Richard Partington
Director
Since the creation of Studio Partington in 1998, Richard has led exemplar sustainable projects, such as the widely acclaimed Parkmount, in Belfast (completed 2003) and Derwenthorpe in York, featured in the National Design Guide (2019).
Richard’s recent work includes several new build Passivhaus social housing developments for Greenoak Housing Association in Surrey (planning 2021); and NCH2050 radical assured performance Energiesprong (Energy Leap) retrofits.
Richard serves on Newham Design Review Panel and is Ministerial Advisory Group expert adviser in Northern Ireland, and was previously architect advisor to the Zero Carbon Hub. Richard is co-editor of RIBA Publishing book ‘Better Buildings: learning from buildings in use’ exploring in-use performance through essays and case studies.
Victoria Kirk
Director & Practice Manager
Since joining in 2001, Victoria has acquired extensive experience in supervising numerous contracts and provides project management and coordination for a variety of projects. As practice manager, Victoria oversees all aspects of the practice’s internal management, administering financial affairs and implementing the practice’s procedures, policies and quality management systems, with a focus on structured resourcing and wellbeing of the team.
Victoria has also contributed to the content, design, production and delivery of a number of our publications, including a series of guides commissioned by the NHBC Foundation including, ‘Designing homes for the 21st century’; ‘The advantages of new homes’ with illustrations of older homes by Victoria; ‘Futurology: the new home in 2050’; and ‘Modern Methods of Construction: building on experience’.
Colin Davis
Director
Colin has been a leader of Studio Partington since its formation in 1998 and is the strategic manager of business planning, procedures and systems, and quality assurance. Colin has completed many significant residential, commercial, and master planning projects.
Colin was project lead for Putney Plaza, a large mixed- use and tenure scheme for a complex and constrained site, bound on all sides by railways and a main road (completed 2016).
Colin is currently leading the Brickyard, a mixed-use scheme for Populo Living (£30m) providing 98 mixed- tenure residential units and three commercial units (under construction). He is also responsible for a significant refurbishment, estate-wide window replacement of listed Golden Lane Estate for City of London Corporation (pre- planning).
Adam Cornish
Director
RIBA Yorkshire Project Architect of the Year 2017.
Adam joined Studio Partington in 2004 and is a design champion and authority on technical issues. Adam has oversight of the full breadth of our design work.
Notably, Adam has led two ambitious sustainable housing developments in York. Derwenthorpe exemplar community for Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (completed 2009–2019), and Terry’s Chocolate Works regeneration for Barratt Homes (under construction).
Currently, Adam coordinates several housing projects for Islington Council, which range from small infill developments to estate regeneration, including Andover Estate. He is also responsible for community- led renovation projects including listed Golden Lane Community Centre (completed 2018) and Mayford Supported Living Accommodation (completed 2021).
Suzanne Davenport
Associate
Suzanne joined Studio Partington in 2005, becoming an associate in 2017. She oversees marketing and promotion and has also written several best practice guides for NHBC Foundation, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and the Welsh Government.
Suzanne has worked on various housing schemes from, the redevelopment of Woolwich Polytechnic for Gallions Housing Association (completed 2008), to smaller schemes including three social rent family homes at Morton Road for Islington Council (completed 2016).
Recently, Suzanne has led community-led projects, such as Swanage Pier regeneration, obtaining Heritage Lottery and Coastal Communities funding and listed building consent (completed 2018). Suzanne is currently in charge of the renovation of an independent evangelical church in Richmond, London.
Nick Jones
Associate
Nick is a chartered architect who also has a landscape architecture degree. Since joining Studio Partington in 2007, Nick has worked on a variety of residential and commercial projects, working on masterplan and landscape for the 630-unit extension to Howden in East Yorkshire. Nick was made an Associate in 2017.
Nick was lead associate for Hox Park 499-room student accommodation in Surrey, which used concrete MMC (completed 2018).
Currently, Nick is leading two substantial projects for Islington Council: the redevelopment of Telfer House, a modern mansion block scheme that will provide 38 generous apartments (68% social) and the first phase of Andover Estate regeneration, 64 new homes, affordable workspaces and associated public realm improvements. Both projects started on site in Spring 2021.
Fabienne Blunden
Associate Architect
Fabienne joined Studio Partington in 2016, having gained a Masters of Architecture from Plymouth University, where she graduated with distinction and was nominated for the RIBA President’s Silver Medal. She completed the Bristol UWE RIBA Part 3 course in 2018. Fabienne is working on a range of guidance publications including Part L 2021 Masonry and Timber Guides, Part O Overheating Guide for Future Homes Hub and Fire Detailing Guide for Building Alliance in light of the amendments to the Building Regulations Approved Documents.
She has also worked on The Chocolate Works ambitious housing development in York for David Wilson Homes, Derwenthorpe National Grid Land Housing development for Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust and Andover Estate for Islington Council.
Fabienne also assists with administration and practice management to ensure everything within the office runs smoothly.
Simon Wells
Associate Architect
Simon joined Studio Partington in September 2018 as an RIBA Part 2 Assistant, having completed his MArch at Central Saint Martins in London. He gained experience in large scale housing during his Part 1 professional practice, which developed his interest in architecture on an urban scale. During his time at university he explored architecture’s role in addressing environmental issues through urban systems. Simon has undertaken a number of feasibility studies for local authorities and developer clients. Simon is currently working on the Brickyard scheme in East London. In 2021 Simon gained his Part 3 qualification from London Metropolitan University.
Darren Buttar
Senior Architect
Darren joined Studio Partington in August 2015 as a RIBA Part 1 Assistant and later returned to the practice in June 2021 after gaining his MArch at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL specialising in film and architecture for performance through metalwork and plaster casting models with 3D printed moulds.
At Studio Partington, Darren has worked on various projects such as the construction phase of a 9-unit building in South London, the design and planning application for the Andover Estate regeneration project, and for a 30-unit residential project in Epsom, South London.
Darren gained his Part 3 qualification from the University of Westminster in 2023. He is now project architect for the construction phase of 40 houses, which are the final Phase 5 of Derwenthorpe in York, where Studio Partington will have designed and helped to deliver 540 low carbon homes. Darren is also currently working on a 6-unit supported living project for Camden London Borough Council.
Mehmet Gungor
Architectural Assistant
Mehmet joined Studio Partington in 2018, having graduated from the Kingston University with a BA (Hons) in Architecture. Being a resident in the Andover Estate, he is excited to be part of the SP Andover Estate regeneration team. He assisted in the development of the WElink prefabricated prototype and house type range. Mehmet achieved his Part 2 MArch from Kingston University in August 2021.
Alexandra Crivat
Architectural Assistant
Alexandra joined Studio Partington in 2021 as a Part 1 Assistant having graduated from Kingston University with a BA (Hons) in Architecture. Later, she returned to the practice in August 2023 after gaining her Part 2 MArch at Kingston University, with projects focusing on urban regeneration of town centres and ideas of expressed ownership within the public space.
In practice, she has worked on a number of feasibility studies and planning applications for housing airspace developments as well as housing retrofit projects.
Nick Condon
Project Manager
Nick has been working as a Project Manager with Studio Partington since 2022 and is currently overseeing a number of projects for the City of London Corporation including the significant, estate-wide refurbishment programme for the Golden Lane Estate. As part of the refurbishment process, Nick has overseen the tender and delivery of a Pilot Project at Flat 347 of the Grade II* Listed Crescent House.
Nick has a long-established relationship with the practice going back to 1998 when Nick (as Project/Construction Director for Liberty Property Trust (UK) Ltd) and Studio Partington collaborated on the commercial masterplan of Kings Hill. Formerly an airfield, Kings Hill is now a 650 acre mixed-use community including 2m sq ft office space, 3750 residential units, a retail centre, educational, community and leisure facilities.
